One goal of the Learning Studios facilitator training in Azraq, Jordan was to explore how everyday items, places, and systems are constructed, and how they can be taken apart and reconstructed. To explore this idea, participants did the Parts, Purposes, Complexities thinking routine with everyday items like hair accessories and toys.
During this activity, participants came up with questions relating to why objects were designed the way they were, who the objects were designed for, information they were missing to better understand the product’s design, and ways the objects could be designed differently. This activity set the tone for the rest of the week’s training, which focused on using design and creativity to develop a solution for an everyday problem.
