In this section, developed in partnership with Black Rhino VR, you’ll learn about Augmented Reality (AR) production. By the end, you will have created an AR project.
- What do I need to know about the issue I’ve chosen and how it affects my community?
- How do I communicate about my topic using AR media?
- How do I create compelling AR content? What is the best type of AR to use? What are the best platforms and tools to use?

In this section you will gain a basic understanding of AR and the impact it can have on the world, and get an overview of the different platforms and features of tools used to create AR content.
Learn about the stages of idea development and how to develop an AR idea. You’ll explore why AR would work for your project, how to use a template to visualize your idea, and ask questions to fine tune your idea. At the end of this section, you will share your idea with others to get feedback.
Learn the basics of prototyping and explore the different ways that you can prototype your AR products and designs. This unit provides guidance on creating, testing, viewing and actualizing prototypes in both the virtual and real worlds.
Learn about the production process of an AR project. This section guides you through examples that show how to create a social impact project that aligns to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This process can be applied on any AR concept, whether it’s for social impact or another purpose.
Most of the work in AR takes place in the production stage. This stage entails maintaining your AR content and keeping it updated. If you are using paid platforms, ensure that the fees are paid to ensure your creations are usable and accessible. Post-production in AR also focuses on marketing and distributing your AR experience.
